Conference: New Jerusalems and Beyond: New Towns, New Research, New Possibilities
1-2 July. Old Library, Creative Quarter, Birmingham.
We are delighted to invite you to New Jerusalems and Beyond: New Towns, New Research, New Possibilities, the final conference of the New Jerusalems project.
This two-day event brings together researchers, archivists, heritage professionals, and others to explore the rich potential of New Town archives and to foster new collaborations for the future.
Day 1 offers a practical, hands-on introduction to archival research, providing participants with confidence and skills to work with a variety of archival sources, from planning documents to oral histories. Whether you are new to archives or looking to deepen your research techniques, the sessions will offer valuable guidance and experience.
Day 2 showcases the work of the New Jerusalems project, sharing insights from the newly uncovered New Town collections and highlighting exciting case studies. The afternoon focuses on building the future: an interactive workshop where participants can form collaborative research ideas and explore concrete funding opportunities.
The conference will be a friendly and practical space for anyone interested in how New Towns were imagined, built, and lived; and how their legacies can inform our lives today. We welcome researchers at all career stages, archivists, heritage practitioners, and anyone interested in the New Town story.
Join us to celebrate the New Jerusalems project, discover rich archival resources, and help shape the next generation of research on New Towns!
Tickets will be live very shortly so save the date.
